Physician Brings More Than 20 Years of Experience to Freeman OccuMed

Freeman Health System announces the addition of Dr. Jon Petersen as the new Freeman OccuMed Medical Director. He succeeds Dr. Dennis Estep, who was recently promoted to Chief Medical Officer of Freeman Health System.

“I’ve known Dr. Estep a number of years and it’s a great honor to be chosen to take the helm of Freeman OccuMed,” said Dr. Petersen. “The program Dr. Estep and his team have built is top notch. It’s above and beyond many occupational medicine programs found in much larger cities.”

After earning his medical degree at Marshall University of Medicine in Huntington, W. Va., Dr. Petersen completed his family practice residency at Eglin Hospital at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla., and a fellowship in occupational medicine at John Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Md. He is board-certified with the American Board of Family Medicine and the American Board of Preventive Medicine-Occupational Medicine.

“An individual’s health should be more than just a hobby,” said Dr. Petersen. “I like to help people be fit to do their jobs properly. I encourage individuals to take charge of their overall health and well-being.”

For more than 25 years, Freeman OccuMed has provided services devoted to the prevention and management of occupational injury, illness and disability, while promoting the health and productivity of workers.
