SPRAVATO® is the first FDA-approved nasal spray specifically for adults with treatment-resistant depression.

SPRAVATO is a prescription medicine used alongside an oral antidepressant to treat:

  • Depression symptoms in adults with major depressive disorder (MDD) with suicidal thoughts or actions
  • Treatment-resistant depression

In studies of patients with major depressive disorder and active suicidal thoughts or actions, those who took both SPRAVATO and an oral antidepressant experienced a greater reduction of depression symptoms than those who received a placebo with an oral antidepressant. (Not all patients will respond to SPRAVATO.)

SPRAVATO is only available at certified healthcare settings like Ozark Center with the supervision of a healthcare provider.

WHAT TO EXPECT WITH SPRAVATO

WHAT TO EXPECT WITH SPRAVATO

You’ll take SPRAVATO twice a week for four weeks, along with an oral antidepressant. After four weeks, you and your healthcare provider will determine if continued treatment with SPRAVATO is necessary. You should not stop taking SPRAVATO without talking to your healthcare provider.

BEFORE SPRAVATO APPOINTMENTS

You’ll need to arrange for rides to and from your SPRAVATO treatments. Because of possible side effects affecting alertness and coordination, you won’t be able to drive, operate machinery or do activities you need to be completely alert for until the day after a treatment session, following a restful sleep. Dress comfortably for appointments, and avoid eating two hours and drinking 30 minutes before appointments.

AT SPRAVATO APPOINTMENTS

You’ll take SPRAVATO nasal spray yourself, under the guidance of a healthcare provider who will show you how to use the device. After administering SPRAVATO, you can rest comfortably while your healthcare provider monitors you for any side effects. The observation period will last at least two hours. When your healthcare provider gives you the okay, you’ll be ready to leave.

Your healthcare provider will monitor your symptoms and progress during your treatment.

Call your healthcare provider if you experience new or worsening thoughts of suicide, or any other unusual changes in behavior or mood.
