International Hospital Federation (IHF)

Freeman Health System is one of just 102 hospitals from 27 countries around the world being honored by the International Hospital Federation Beyond the Call of Duty for COVID-19 Program. Freeman Health System President and Chief Executive Officer Paula Baker received the recognition badge after a thorough review by an international committee consisting of 16 healthcare industry experts.

 

American College of Cardiology 

Freeman Health System is one of only 212 hospitals nationwide to receive the American College of Cardiology NCDR Chest Pain – MI Registry Platinum Performance Achievement Award for 2020. The award recognizes Freeman’s commitment and success in implementing a higher standard of care for heart attack patients. Those standards are outlined by the American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association Clinic guidelines and recommendations.

 

Midwest Transplant Network

Freeman Health System is being recognized by the Midwest Transplant Network (MTN) staff with the Excellence in Tissue Donation Award. Based on 2019 donation outcomes, MTN presents the Excellence in Organ Donation Award to hospitals that had greater than 75% of eligible families granting authorization for donation. Additionally, they honor hospitals with the Excellence in Tissue Donation Award that had at least 15 eligible tissue donors with greater than 40% of families granting authorization.

 

American Heart Association

Once again Freeman Heart & Vascular Institute has been recognized by the American Heart Association for outstanding care provided to patients with NSTEMI.  This year, by meeting very high performance thresholds, it received the 2021 Mission: Lifeline® NSTEMI Gold Recognition Award, AHA’s highest achievement for this program. Freeman also received the 2021 Mission: Lifeline® STEMI Receiving Center Silver Plus Achievement Award.

In 2021, Freeman Health System received the American Heart Association’s Gold Plus Get With The Guidelines® — Stroke Quality Achievement Award for its commitment to ensuring stroke patients receive the most appropriate treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines.

Freeman received gold level recognition in the AHA 2018 Workplace Health Achievement Index. The AHA Workplace Health Achievement Index allows companies to measure the effectiveness of their workplace health programs, as well as the overall heart health of their employees. The AHA Workplace Health Achievement Index measures the extent to which the company has implemented those workplace health best practices.

Freeman was recognized as a platinum-level worksite and Fit Friendly Company by AHA. Freeman received this designation for offering employees physical activity options in the workplace, increasing healthful eating options, promoting a wellness culture and demonstrating measurable outcomes related to workplace wellness.

Additionally, Freeman was recognized by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association® in the 2018 U.S. News & World Report “Best Hospitals” publication. Freeman joins an elite group of hospitals recognized for adhering to the latest scientific guidelines for heart attack care as part of the Mission: Lifeline® quality initiative.

U.S. NEWS & WORLD REPORT

Once again Freeman Health System has been named the Best Regional Hospital in Southwest Missouri by the U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals report and ranks 14th in the state of Missouri in 2020. Freeman has also been ranked as high-performing for three procedures and conditions by the Best Hospitals assessment, including heart failure care, colon cancer surgery and COPD treatment.

 

 

 

 

Foster G. McGaw Prize

Freeman Health System was one of four hospitals in the nation to be acknowledged for its ongoing efforts to improve the health and well-being of everyone in its communities in 2020. The award if the Foster G. McGaw Prize, which uniquely shows the relationship between a hospital and its community, was founded by the Baxter Allegiance Foundation and the American Hospital Association in 1986.

 

Blue Cross and Blue Shield

Freeman was recognized by Anthem® Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Missouri as a Blue Distinction Center+ for Bariatric Surgery, and a Blue Distinction Center for Maternity Care and Spine Surgery. Blue Distinction® is a national designation program that recognizes hospitals demonstrating expertise in delivering quality specialty care safely, efficiently and effectively.

 

United Health Premium

Freeman was designated as a Total Joint Specialty Center by UnitedHealth Premium for quality of care. To receive this honor, Freeman met extensive quality and outcomes criteria based on nationally recognized medical standards and expert advice. The criteria incorporated measurements of the breadth and depth of care, staff experience, emergency care, quality and outcomes reporting.

 

National Research Corporation

Freeman is one of just 279 hospitals nationwide, and the only hospital in this area, to be named a Consumer Choice Award Winner by National Research Corporation for 2017 – 2018. The annual award identifies hospitals across the United States that healthcare consumers have chosen as having the highest quality and image in surveys.

 

March of Dimes

Freeman Maternity Center received a perfect score for eliminating early elective deliveries from the March of Dimes. Freeman was one of 19 hospitals in Missouri to receive the honor.

 

Homecare Elite

Freeman Home Care, the area’s premier provider of home healthcare for more than 30 years, has been named to the HomeCare Elite™ for the twelth time since 2006. This market-leading review designates the top 25 percent of home care providers in the nation based on quality of care, quality improvement, patient experience, process measure implementation and financial management.

 

Becker's Hospital Review

Becker’s Hospital Review placed Freeman Health System among the 36 top hospitals in the nation with the lowest 30-day readmission rates for hip and knee replacement surgery. In fact, Freeman tied for fifth place, higher than Mayo Clinic. Our orthopaedic specialists want to give patients the right care at the right time, the first time they come through our doors – and they’ve done just that!

 

Urgent Care Association of America

Freeman Urgent Care, with locations in Joplin and Webb City, has earned the Accredited Urgent Care designation, the highest level of distinction for urgent care centers. Freeman Urgent Care provides patients with walk-in extended-hour medical attention with licensed providers for a large scope of medical conditions and has met all the Urgent Care Association of America’s established standard and criteria for quality of patient care, safety and scope of services.

 

Standard and Poor's

Standard & Poor’s Ratings Services (S&P) has upgraded Freeman Health System’s standard long-term bond rating from “A-“ to “A.” In receiving the upgrade, the hospital bucks a national trend in which other healthcare institutions are experiencing ratings downgrades.

 

Joplin Globe and Zimmerman Radio Group

Freeman was name Best Hospital for the last four years by both The Joplin Globe newspaper and Zimmer Radio Group through customer voting.

 

Freeman Recognized as Breastfeeding Friendly Workplace

Freeman joined a growing number of Missouri businesses by becoming a Missouri Breastfeeding Friendly Worksite – Silver Level. Breastfeeding friendly employers proactively support employees who choose to breastfeed their infants. They provide time, space and other benefits to maintain breastfeeding after a mother returns to work.

 

Celebrating 25 Years of Service in Neosho

Freeman Neosho Hospital celebrated 25 years as part of Freeman Health System with a brief ceremony and refreshments. In 1993, Freeman Health System acquired Sale Memorial Hospital, extending services to residents in Newton and McDonald counties.

Ozark Center Named Outstanding Performer for 2018

Ozark Center, an entity of Freeman Health System, was named the 2018 Individual Placement and Support (IPS) Outstanding Performer by the Missouri Department of Mental Health – Division of Behavioral Health. The award recognizes Ozark Center’s commitment to obtaining and maintaining education and employment for clients.

 

Freeman Earns Highest Stemi Designation

Freeman took a major stride forward in improving the quality of healthcare in the four-state area by earning a Level I STEMI Center designation from the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services.

 

Freeman Named "Best 50" For Supply Chain

Freeman Health System is named one of the “Best 50” by Global Healthcare Exchange, LLC (GHX®). GHX® uses cloud-based supply chain management technology and services to reduce costs, reduce waste and drive efficiency for better patient care.

 

Freeman Cornell-Beshore Cancer Institute Receives Certification

Freeman Health System Cornell-Beshore Cancer Institute is one of only four practices in Missouri to be recognized by the Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI®) Certification Program, an affiliate of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO®). The QOPI Certification Program provides a three-year certification for outpatient hematology-oncology practices that meet the highest standards for quality cancer care.
