Joplin, Mo. – Patients battling blood cancer are in the fight of their lives. Every three minutes in the United States, someone is diagnosed with leukemia, lymphoma or myeloma. The recovery is long and often leaves patients feeling weak, cold and isolated. Today, Frank Fletcher Subaru, in partnership with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), spread hope and warmth to cancer patients with the delivery of dozens of blankets to the Freeman Cornell-Beshore Cancer Institute and craft kits to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals

“We commend Frank Fletcher Subaru for ‘Loving to Care’ and taking an active role in the well-being of our community,” said Freeman President and Chief Executive Officer Paula Baker. “These blankets and craft kits will bring comfort to our patients, help them pass the time as they receive chemotherapy, and warm their hearts as well as their bodies.”

The donation is a tradition for Fletcher Subaru during June as it celebrates “Subaru Loves to Care,” a national health-focused initiative.

“By end of the year, Subaru and retailers nationwide will have donated over 230,000 warm blankets along with hand-written messages to support brave cancer patients across America,” said Jason Chambers, Frank Fletcher Auto Group General Manager. “Subaru works all year on five special community events to give back to communities they serve – it’s why Subaru is more than a car company.”

Subaru is partnering with LLS for the seventh consecutive year.

“Supporting patients and families is central to everything we do at The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and meeting community needs is incredibly important to us,” said Dr. Louis J. DeGennaro, LLS President and CEO. “Through our long-standing partnership with Subaru, together we deliver comfort and reassurance to blood cancer patients across the country, showing them that they are not alone. Subaru’s generous contribution continues to fuel our mission, funding patient support, advocacy and pioneering research that breaks new ground in the fight against blood cancer.”

Those looking to write a message of hope for patients in their community are invited to visit their local Subaru retailer.
